New Students

We are glad to have your student join us at Fowler Middle School.

Your student's first day will typically be an orientation day. They will receive their schedule, take any necessary tests, take a tour of the school, open their locker and walk the route to their classes. They will attend their full schedule the next day. We will inform you if there are any changes to this plan.

Cell Phone Policy At School

Cell Phone and Electronic Device Policy

The use of cell phones is not allowed during the school day from the time students walk into the school building until they walk out at 3:10. This also means that students may not use phones in the hallways or bathrooms, staff offices, or other areas at any time during the school day. Cell phones and earbuds/air pods need to be off and away from 8:15am - 3:10pm. If parents need to contact students during the school day, they should call the office and a note will be delivered to students.

In addition, students are not allowed to record others, take pictures of others (students or staff), and/or share or post without the other’s consent. If this occurs, the school will respond, including contacting the involved students’ family to provide appropriate support and follow up.

Drop off and pick up procedures

Morning Drop off

  • Do not drop-off in the front of the school between 8:00-8:45am.
  • Drop-off in the parking lot near the tennis courts, using the entrance on Walnut St.

Please follow all school staff members instructions. This area gets very congested so please pull as far forward as you can and your student will walk to your car so traffic does not back up onto Walnut Street. Quickly have your student get into & out of the car to keep traffic moving smoothly.

Walnut Street, Tennis courts, Keep clear for through Traffic, loading zone

Afternoon Pick-up:

  • Do not pick-up in front of the school building between 3:00-3:30.
  • Enter Driveway on Walnut St. (near tennis courts).
  • Proceed forward and park in any available space.
  • When all spaces are occupied, a row of cars will form around the inner island of spaces.
  • The outside lane will be left open for passing cars.
  • DO NOT STOP in the outside lane, you may keep circling around if you did not get your student on the first run by the loading zone.
  • Students wait on the sidewalk by the baseball field house.
  • Pick up students in the loading zone or in your parking space.
  • An adult will be in the parking lot daily to assist in the crosswalk.
  • Our goal is to have the lot empty by 3:25.
  • Exiting the lot will be RIGHT TURN ONLY during pick-up and drop-off times. Please plan accordingly.

If your student is getting picked up early from school, please have them bring a note to the attendance secretary before school starts so we can have them ready to leave on time. If you forget to send a note, you can contact the main office, 503-431-5000, to have them in the office when you arrive.

Yellow bus

Bus Riders

For students riding a bus, their bus, pick-up time and pick-up (and drop-off) location should be available on ParentVue and StudentVue. It is located under the “Student Info” tab. Roll to the bottom, and if your student has a bus route based on the address we have on file, it will look like this:

Transportaton, bus route to school 7am-3:45 pick up Bus stop, SW commercial ST @SW 95th Ave, Pick up transport Time 8:00am, Bus route from School 7-PM 345, Drop off bus stop SW Commercial ST @ SW 95th AV, Drop off transport Time 3:38PM

We are told that it is easier to locate on a browser versus the app. Look for it on a computer or tablet if possible. If you are NOT able to locate it on ParentVue, here is the link to the Bus Routes for Fowler Middle School.

If you need assistance locating your student's bus stop please call the Registrar, Abbey Gambill at (503) 431-5020. Please have your student at the bus stop 5 minutes early to ensure they do not miss their bus.

Bicycles, scooters and skateboards are not allowed to be ridden on school property. Students will need to dismount and walk it in when they arrive at Fowler.

If your student rides a bicycle to school, we have several bike racks located to the right of the Main Entrance for them to secure their bike. They will need to provide their own lock to secure their bike.

If your student rides a scooter or skateboard, they will need to secure it on the rack inside the vestibule as they arrive. They will need their own lock in order to do so. Padlocks and chain bike locks both work. Scooters and skateboards do not typically fit in most of our lockers.

Student Technology Support

If the student finds themselves in need of Technology Assistance, you will need to submit a trouble ticket. You can access this many ways.

Trouble Ticket

There is an app on the student's iPad that has an icon that looks like this that takes them directly to the trouble ticket form.

They can also submit a ticket through the link on this page: http://ticket.ttsdstudents.org

Student Reporting Apps

If your student comes home troubled by something that happens at school, we would like you to know that there are two reporting apps available to all students at all times. If there is a situation where someone is in immediate danger, they can use the Safe Oregon reporting app. This app is connected to our staff/emergency services 24/7. If there is a concern that needs to be reported but can wait until school hours to be addressed, students can use the Student Concern Report app on their iPad. These reports are monitored by our administrators.

  • Canvas “Observer” accounts are auto-created and the password must be reset the first time you login.
  • In order to have a Canvas Observer account parents must first have an active ParentVUE account.

Volunteers needed

Calling all Volunteers

I would encourage all parents to complete the volunteer form and get a background check at the start of the year as there will be some field trips and other opportunities to support your child and Fowler via different events. This process can take several weeks, so starting now can make it easy to volunteer if an opportunity arises later in the year.
